Fife Cycle Challenge 2010
Cyclists
Join us for a fundraising bike ride on Sunday 5 September 2010. It will start and finish in Cupar and take in some breathtaking Fife countryside. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and cycling ability which include on and off road cycling and some hilly patches.
There will be a 22 or 34 mile option, with the opportunity to stop for lunch.
Registration is £15 (Concessions £10) and we would ask you to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship.
Raising sponsorship
A Revolution Workstand (RRP £79.99) has been very kindly donated by the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op for our top fundraiser, so get asking and get raising for your chance to win this amazing prize!

100% of the money you raise will go to Friends of the Earth Scotland, a small independent Scottish charity that campaigns to protect the environment and tackle climate change.
Raising sponsorship is easy through our online Virgin money Giving pages. All you have to do is create a page, add your photo and email it to all your friends. There is also a facebook application you can download.

You can also use a paper form if you prefer.
When you register you will receive a fundraising pack which will include hints and tips on preparing (yourself and your bike!) for the ride, fundraising ideas, sponsorship forms and details of the ride. Our fundraising team will keep in touch with you and be on hand to help out in any way we can.
Why cycle for Friends of the Earth Scotland?
Friends of the Earth Scotland exists to help people look after the planet for everyone's future. We are a small, independent Scottish charity that raises all our funds in Scotland (we are separate from Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland, although we are both part of the Friends of the Earth International network).
We have 30 years experience at the forefront of environmental campaigning. We are a grass roots organisation, with a network of supporters and local groups across Scotland. Read about our history and our successes.
Event Safety
Cycle safety helmets are recommended but not compulsory. Entrants must ensure that their bikes are roadworthy. Any entrants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Persons with learning difficulties are welcome with their carers. For more information on these and other concessions please contact Zoe on 0131 243 2700.
Transport
You will need to pay for your own transport to get to Cupar. We would like to encourage transport to be an environmentally friendly as possible.
If you are planning to come to Cupar by car and have space for someone else and their bike, please consider offering a lift to another participant.
If you are coming from Edinburgh we are likely to organise transport to take bikes to Cupar, with participants going by train. There will be a small additional cost for this, depending on the numbers of people requiring this. If there is a large number of people coming from Edinburgh and it is more cost effective to hire a minibus we will do so and split the costs among those who need the transport. At all times we will aim to keep the costs to a minimum.
If you are coming from elsewhere by train, please check that the train you are going on has space for bikes.
