Since our inception, we have fought for environmental justice – the right to a healthy environment and a fair share of the world’s resources for everyone.
This belief is core to our campaign to tackle climate change. We are faced with three challenges:
The UN climate negotiations in Cancun, Mexico, have ended with an agreement that leaves a fair climate deal on 'life-support'.

Cancun has been widely hailed as a success story in the media, however the only positive that can really be said to have come out of the COP is is that the multilateral process remains alive.
The agreement as it stands risks the abandonment of the Kyoto Protocol, which recognises developed countries responsibility for historical emmissions and legally requires them to reduce emissions.
Cancun paves the way for up to 5o warming, and puts faith in market mechanisms to bail out the climate.
Our colleagues at Friends of the Earth International were at Cancun working hard for a fair deal:
The next stage in the UN climate process is COP-17 in Durban, South Africa next year.
