Pod treefest 2008Talking to the public about our campaigns is an important aspect of our work, as we raise awareness about the issues we campaign on and encourage the public to support us.
Volunteers are needed throughout the year, and in particular over the Summer, to help us to promote our work at events and festivals. The more volunteers we have, the more events we can do, and the more people we can speak to! This strengthens our voice and the effectiveness of our campaigns.
By joining our volunteer events team, you could be working at music festivals, farmers markets, in shopping centres and on the street encouraging the public to:
- Sign petitions and campaign postcards
- Become more involved as activists
- Join as members
- Donate change to a collecting can.
Depending on the audience, we also have children's activities.
All our volunteers receive training before attending the events so you would be briefed on our latest campaigns and equiped with skills to talk to the public.
The length of time required varies according to the event. For music festivals we would send a team of people on a rota, giving you some free time at the festival as well. For one day events we usually ask for a minimum voluntary shift of about 3 hours.

Other festivals that we would consider attending in future include the Belladrum and Knockengorroch Festivals. We also attend smaller community events with green themes and are planning an Edinburgh city centre street collection.
